Founded in 1440 by Henry VI, the school’s pupils have included members of the Royal Family, 19 British prime ministers, and members of the aristocracy. A stunning estate on the border between Berkshire and Buckinghamshire, Cliveden is 5.4 miles from Slough. The Italianate mansion is on the banks of the River Thames and was once owned by the Astor family.

It is the oldest continuously occupied royal residence and lends its name to the Royal Family. Berkshire is a popular horse racing destination. One of the UK’s top racetracks is the Ascot Racecourse, where the Royal Ascot is held each June. Other fan favourites include the Sandown Park Racecourse in Esher, and the Newbury Racecourse. Hampton Court Palace in East Molesey is where Henry VIII ruled just under 13 miles from Slough.
