Rental Policies

THERE WILL BE AN ADDITIONAL CHARGE OF 12 CHF PER DAY, MAXIMUM 120 CHF, EXCLUDING VAT FOR EACH ADDITIONAL AUTHORIZED DRIVER. FULL RENTAL CONDITIONS APPLY TO ALL ADDITIONAL DRIVERS.

All car groups are available for renters betrween the ages of 21-80 except standard   full size   premium and luxury vehicles which are available for renters aged 25 or older.  All drivers between the ages of 21-24 will be charged an underage fee of 19.90 CHF per day with a maximum charge of 199.99 CHF.

THE RENTER MUST ADVISE THAT THE VEHICLE WILL BE TAKEN ACROSS AN INTERNATIONAL BORDER AT THE TIME OF RENTAL. CROSS-BORDER TRAVEL IS PERMITTED INTO AUSTRIA, BELGIUM, CZECH REPUBLIC, FRANCE, GERMANY, GREECE, HUNGARY, ITALY, LUXEMBOURG, NETHERLANDS, NORWAY, POLAND, PORTUGAL, SLOVAKIA, SLOVENIA, SPAIN AND SWEDEN. CONTACT THE RENTAL LOCATION FOR ADDITIONAL CROSS BORDER RESTRICTIONS. A PENALTY FEE OF 5,000 CHF WILL APPLY FOR THE UNAUTHORIZED DROP OF THE RENTAL VEHICLE IN A COUNTRY PROHIBITED FOR CROSS-BORDER TRAVEL. A PENALTY FEE OF 3,000 CHF WILL APPLY FOR UNATHORIZED DROP OF THE RENTAL VEHICLE IN A COUNTRY OTHER THAN THE COUNTRY OF RENTAL ORIGIN.

COLLISION DAMAGE WAIVER AND THEFT PROTECTION-CDWTP- IS OFFERED AT THE TIME OF RENTAL FOR AN ADDITIONAL DAILY CHARGE RANGING BETWEEN 20 CHF AND 30 CHF PER DAY PLUS VAT AND AN EXCESS AMOUNT. IF THE RENTER PURCHACES CDWTP, ENTERPRISE REDUCES THE RENTERS RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEFT, LOSS OF, OR DAMAGE TO, THE RENTAL VEHICLE INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO – TOWING, STORAGE, LOSS OF USE, ADMINISTRATIVE AND-OR DIMINSHED VALUE OF THE RENTAL VEHICLE – SUBJECT TO THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF THE RNETAL AGREEMENT AND APPLICABLE LAWS. CDWTP IS NOT INSURANCE. THE PURCHASE OF CDWTP IS NOT A REQUIRED CONDITION OF RENTAL. THE PROTECTION PROVIDED BY CDWTP MAY DUPLICATE THE RENTERS EXISTING COVERAGE AND ENTERPRISE IS NOT QUALIFIED TO EVALUATE THE ADEQUACY OF THE RENTERS EXISTING COVERAGE. THERE FORE, THE RENTER SHOULD EXAMINE THEIR PERSONAL CREDIT CARD PROTECTIONS, AUTOMOBILE INSURANCE POLICIES OR OTHER SOURCES OF COVERAGE WHICH MAY DUPLICATE THE PROTECTION PROVIDED BY CDWTP. IN ALL CASES, CDWTP DOES NOT COVER THE RENTER FOR DAMAGES CAUSED BY DRIVER NEGLIGENCE OR LEGAL VIOLATION. IN THESE CASES THE RENTER WILL BE LIABLE FOR THE ENTIRE FINANCIAL LOSS INCURRED BY THE LESSOR.

DOMESTIC ONE WAYS ARE AVAILABLE FOR ALL ENTERPRISE LOCATIONS WITHIN SWITZERLAND. ONE WAYS MUST BE BOOKED AT THE TIME OF RENTAL OR APPROVED BY THE STATION OF RENTAL AT THE TIME OF PICK UP. INTERNATIONAL ONE WAY RENTALS ARE NOT ALLOWED.

ALL VEHICLES ARE DELIVERED WITH FULL TANK OF FUEL AND MUST BE RETURNED IN THE SAME CONDITION. IF A VEHICLE IS RETURNED WITH LESS THAN A FULL TANK OF FUEL THE RENTER WILL BE CHARGED FOR THE DIFFERENCE PLUS AN ADDITIONAL FEE OF 50 CHF. VAT AND LOCAL FEES AND LOCAL SURCHARGES WILL APPLY TO FUEL CHARGES.

A SAFETY KIT CONSISTING OF A SAFETY TRIANGLE AND SAFETY JACKET IS REQUIRED BY LAW AND PROVIDED IN ALL VEHICLES. THE CUSTOMER MAY PROVIDE THIER OWN SAFETY KIT BUT ENTERPRISE IS NOT LIABLE FOR FINES ISSUED TO RENTERES WHO CANNOT PROVIDE A KIT WHEN ASKED BY POLICE AUTHORITIES. ANY FINES LEVIED BY POLICE FOR COMPULSORY SAFETY EQUIPMENT NOT IN THE RENTAL VEHICLE DURING A POLICE STOP WILL BE CHARGED TO THE RENTER.

PERSONAL ACCIDENT INSURANCE - PAI IS AN OPTIONAL INSURANCE THAT CAN BE PURCHASED AT THE TIME OF RENTAL. PAI COVERS ALL PASSENGERS, INCLUDING THE DRIVER, UP TO A CERTAIN AMOUNTS IN CASE OF DISABILITY OR DEATH AS A CONSEQUENCE OF AN ACCIDENT

VISA, AMERICAN EXPRESS AND MASTER CARD ARE ACCEPTED AS PAYMENT AND DEPOSIT FOR THE RENTAL. ALL CUSTOMERS ARE REQUIRED TO PLACE A DEPOSIT TAKEN BY CREDIT CARD IMPRINT. THE DEPOSIT IS BASED ON THE EXCESS AMOUNT FOR COLLISION DAMAGE WAIVER AND THEFT PROTECTION-CDWTP COVERAGE WITH A FUEL DEPOSIT OF 150 CHF. THE DEPOSIT WILL INCREASE WHEN OPTIONAL EXTRAS ARE PURCHASED LOCALLY. THE PURCHASE OF SUPER COLLISION DAMAGE WAIVER AND THEFT PROTECTION - SCDWTP WILL RESULT IN A LOWER DEPOSIT AMOUNT.

ENTERPRISE RENTAL LOCATIONS DO NOT PROVIDE DIRECT ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE TO THE CUSTOMER. THE ASSISTANCE IS PROVIDED BY MSS ON BEHALF OF ENTERPRISE. THIS SERVICE IS AVAILABLE 24-7 BY CALLING 0800 44 00 66 WITHIN THE COUNTRY OF RENTAL. IF THE CUSTOMER IS FOUND TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE ADDITIONAL CHARGES MAY APPLY.

ALL DRIVERS, RENTER AND ADDITIONAL DRIVERS, MUST PRODUCE A VALID DRIVING LICENSE AT THE TIME OF RENTAL. IN ADDITION TO A VALID DRIVING LICENSE, THE PRIMARY RENTER MUST FUTHER PRODUCE TWO PROOFS OF ADDRESS, AN ADDITIONAL PHOTOGRAPHIC IDENTIFICATION - I.E. PASSPORT, AND A MAJOR CREDIT CARD IN THEIR OWN NAME. PROOF OF ADDRESS - I.E. UTILITY BILL, CREDIT CARD BILL OR BANK STATEMENT - MUST BE NO MORE THAN THREE MONTHS OLD. MULTIPLE-PART DRIVING LICENSE HOLDERS MUST PRODUCE ALL PARTS OF THEIR LICENSE. AN INTERNATIONAL DRIVING PERMIT IS REQUIRED FOR ANYONE HOLDING A NON-EUROPEAN DRIVING LICENSE. ADDITIONAL ID OR FURTHER IDENTIFICATION CHECKS MAY BE REQUESTED IF DEEMED NECESSARY. THIS MAY INCLUDE AN IDENTITY CHECK WITH EXTERNAL PARTNERS WHO MAY CHECK DETAILS SUPPLIED AGAINS DATABASES TO WHICH THEY HAVE ACCESS.

SUPPLEMENTARY LIABILITY INSURANCE SLI, THIRD PARTY INSURANCE, REQUIRED BY LAW - FREE OF CHARGE. COVERAGE LIMITS, THIRD PARTY BODILY INJURY OR DEATH AS WELL AS THIRD PARTY PROPERTY DAMAGE UP TO 100 MIO. CHF.

  • Credit or debit card (check the acceptable forms of payment at the location you’re renting from)

Some locations may require additional information, including but not limited to: 

  • An International Driving Permit (IDP): If the license is written in a language or characters different to those of the country of rental, an IDP is also required. Renters are advised to check whether local authorities require foreign drivers to present an International Driving Permit to avoid the risk of potential fines. Renters with licenses from countries who are not part of the International Driving Permit Agreement should carry a certified translation.
  • Return travel and accommodation information: Visitors to the UK must also provide proof of return travel and accommodation information while in the UK. 

As a customer, you have a choice as to how you would like to pay for fuel.

Fuel Policy at Non-Airport locations:

  • You may refuel the vehicle to the same fuel level you received when you picked up the vehicle, or if you choose not to refuel the vehicle to the same fuel level, you will be charged the local Enterprise rate which is typically above the local pump price. An additional refueling charge may apply at some locations.
  • A full tank of gas is not guaranteed.

Fuel Policy at Airport Car Rental Locations:

  • You may refuel the vehicle to the same fuel level you received when you picked up the vehicle, or if you choose not to refuel the vehicle to the same fuel level, you will be charged the local Enterprise rate which is typically above the local pump price. An additional refueling charge may apply at some locations.
  • You may opt to pre-pay for fuel -- Pre-pay gives you two conveniences:
    • You can avoid the hassle of having to fuel up the vehicle before returning.
    • Pre-pay fuel option is calculated at the local rate of gas minus a per gallon discount.

Note: Prepaid fuel is only sold in full tanks at the discounted price per gallon and is not refundable. Local fuel rates will vary by the area you are renting a vehicle.
